UK Education Levels Explained

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, there are 9 qualification levels.

Entry Level Courses

Level 1: GCSEs Score 1-3

Level 2: GCSEs Score 4-9

Level 3: A-Level

Level 4: University Year 1

Level 5: University Year 2

Level 6: University Year 3

Level 7: Postgraduate Qualification/Masters/MBA

Level 8: Doctorate

What is a Degree Pathway?

A degree pathway is a structured course or program that prepares students for university-level study. It is a recognised method to gain higher education. Accredited courses can be studied at validated institutions which are recognised by UK universities.

They are often used by international students, those needing additional academic or English language support, or students seeking to improve their grades for direct entry.
